Lady Garden scoop another Award!

LOL! Comedy New Act award winners Lady Garden have scooped yet another awards, this time its an Argus Angel for Outstanding Contribution to the Fringe after whipping up a storm at the Brighton Festival.

Their four shows have already been a massive success at Malborough Little Theatre, and the mixture of established new material has been acclaimed by both critics and audiences alike.

The Argus' entertainments writer Ian Ray joined the sell-out crowd for Monday nights performance and was sufficiently impress to nominate the all-female sketch act for the Argus Award, the latest accolade to be awarded to the University of Manchester graduates.

Lady Garden's stint at the Festival has been met with a wave of media attention, and the group were cited by The Guardian as one of the must-see acts last weekend.

Similarly, an interview on BBC Radio and coverage in Three Weeks and Festival Previews among others has heightened the interest in what has been dubbed by The Independent as one of the top five sketch shows in the UK.

Lady Garden debuted in August 2008 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and such was their success that they have embarked on a tour around the UK, appearing at comedy festivals in Manchester, Leicester, Brighton and Sheffield.

They have also made a big impression in London, performing at the Proud Galleries as part of the Comedy Crunch as well as the Hen & Chickens comedy nights, and their rapid ascent on the circuit saw them reach the final of the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 2009 in March.

They are also through to the final of the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year 2009, taking place on 19th May, and they add the Argus Angel for Outstanding Contribution to the Brighton Festival Fringe award to their bow too!
